Is the AKASO EK7000 Remote Waterproof?

04/24/2025

Industrial and professional-grade action cameras require reliable control solutions, especially in challenging environments. The AKASO EK7000 remote is designed for adventurers, outdoor sports professionals, and industrial users who demand seamless operation in wet conditions. Below, we explore the waterproof capabilities of this remote control to help buyers and resellers make informed decisions for waterproof camera accessories.

Can it be used directly underwater/in rainy days? Need additional protection?

The remote control of AKASO EK7000 (usually a small wireless remote control connected to WiFi) is not waterproof and cannot be used directly underwater or in rainy days.

The remote control is not waterproof and will short-circuit or malfunction if immersed in water.

If the camera is installed in a waterproof case (waterproof to 20 meters), it can be operated through the physical buttons of the waterproof case, and cannot be remotely controlled underwater.

Use in rainy days/humid environments requires protection. Minor splashes may affect the remote control. It is recommended to put on a waterproof bag or waterproof sealed box (such as a waterproof case for electronic devices).

If the environment is humid (such as skiing and rafting), the remote control may become damp and malfunction. It is recommended to seal the interface with waterproof tape in advance or use a waterproof Bluetooth remote control (compatible).

Alternative solution

If underwater remote control is required:

Start recording in advance, and you can no longer control it remotely after entering the water.

Use an extension rod + waterproof case to control it through physical buttons.

If the remote control is not waterproof, can I operate the camera indirectly through the buttons inside the waterproof case?

Yes! If the camera is in a waterproof case, you can indirectly operate the AKASO EK7000 through the physical buttons on the waterproof case without relying on a non-waterproof remote control.

Specific operation method:

Waterproof cases usually retain key buttons (such as power, recording, mode switching, etc.) to ensure that manual control is still possible when shooting underwater.

Pay attention to the feel of the buttons on the waterproof case: some models have hard buttons, so it is recommended to test the strength in advance.

The remote control is only for use in dry environments: If remote control is required in rainy days/underwater, you can use a waterproof mobile phone APP (such as some models that support WiFi connection), or start recording in advance.

Will the remote control function fail when swimming, diving or riding in rainy weather?

  • The remote control is not waterproof - it will be damaged directly when in contact with water and cannot be used.
  • Wi-Fi signal interference - the wireless signal is greatly attenuated underwater or in heavy rain, and the mobile phone APP/remote control may be disconnected.
  • Physical buttons are required for diving - the waterproof shell is completely enclosed, wireless control is not possible, and it can only be operated by the machine/shell buttons.

Does it fail when riding?

In ordinary light rain: If the remote control is briefly wet (such as splashing water), it may still be usable, but it may still malfunction if it is wet for a long time. It is recommended to use a waterproof bag for protection.
