Community Story: Seeing Everyday Life Differently Through a AKASO Lens

04/10/2026

In our community group, there’s a member who stands out. He’s not here to show off extreme sports or record world records. He’s just a former tattoo artist who spends his days living like a "hobbit" and his nights working as a wet plate photographer. Oh, and he’s also a self-proclaimed "annoying Disney adult." His name is Nate Poe.

When he’s not in his darkroom working with chemistry and metal plates, he’s out in his yard or on a local trail with his AKASO 360. He doesn't treat the camera like a piece of high-end equipment; he treats it like a notebook.

A simple preference

For someone who spends his nights mastering the slow, precise craft of wet plate photography, you’d think he’d be difficult to please when it comes to digital gear. He is.

He’s tried plenty of cameras over the years, and most of them didn't last. As he mentioned to us, "I've been loyal for a while now. It seems that all other brands have let me down and wound up in a junk drawer."

For him, the AKASO 360 works because it doesn't get in the way. There’s no complex setup or massive learning curve. He picks it up, hits record, and goes about his day. It’s reliable, it’s rugged, and most importantly, it stays on his desk—not in a junk drawer.

The raccoon, the lawn, and the dog

His posts in our community aren't edited to look like big-budget action movies. They are just slices of his day.

We’ve seen him use the camera to track down a raccoon, and we’ve watched him set it up while he’s mowing his lawn. It’s funny, it’s quiet, and it’s relatable. He also records his regular hikes with his dog. He mentioned that the audio quality on the 360 is solid enough to fully preserve the atmosphere of birds chirping , which matters more to him than getting the "perfect" shot.

When he goes skateboarding, he throws the camera down to get a quick clip of his session. There’s no pressure to make it perfect; he just likes having the perspective.

Why we keep sharing

A lot of people think you need to be an athlete to own an action camera. He proves that’s not true. He’s just someone who enjoys looking at his day from a different angle.

Whether it’s recording birds and raccoons in the backyard, playing in the dirt outdoors with his dog, or skating on the favorite skateboard, he just wants a camera that records what’s in front of him. We like his content because it feels real. It reminds us that photography isn't always about the grand gestures—sometimes, it’s just about remembering the raccoon that showed up in your yard or the way your dog runs on a trail.

If you’re the type of person who takes photos just to remember your day, you’ll probably get along with him. Come say hi in our community group and share what your day looks like.
